Vans & Pass~Port with Trent Evans
11/08/2016

For the release of the Vans x Pass~Port Old Skool, SUPPLY asked Trent Evans a few questions about the collaboration.
The shoe will be available to purchase in Chocolate Brown and Marshmellow White, in-store and online on Saturday 13th August.
Is this your first collaboration with Vans?
Yes it is - Very stoked.

How did you end up choosing the old skool as the style of choice?
I have skated in Old Skools for a very long time now, I have gone threw a bit of a love/hate relationship with them actually. They looked and felt so good somedays and other times they were just enemies to your feet. When the Old Skool Pro originally came out I was a little sceptical it looked a little puffy and something just didn't sit right, as it was missing what was so good about the original old skool, its simplicity.
BUT overtime Vans has improved it bit by bit, that ideally now its just an old skool with support in the right places with out sacrificing the feel and look of it. So ideally what I am saying is it was a no brainer to go with this shoe, I skate this shoe and so does Callum and Stipo, our other Pass~Port guys who ride for Vans.

The details on the shoe are really well thought out, from the type of suede to the embroidered heel. Was there anything in particular that you were really keen to put on the shoe?
I have always been drawn to Vans for there classic and simplistic look of a shoe. So I wanted to keep these things in mind when creating the shoes finer details. Ideally from a far its a pretty straight up looking shoe, but once you get a little bit closer there are details like the furry suede, washed canvas and embroideries that you can touch and feel, very sexy...

Something that stands out as well are the colours the shoe comes in… was there an inspiration behind it?
I am a huge sucker for dark chocolate brown, all our decks are stained this colour and its a tone I always see myself coming back to. Callum is also a huge fan of the colour and as soon as he heard we were working on a shoe, he said we HAVE to do it in brown, I was all about it. The off white is classed as a "Marshmallow" on the Vans colour palette, Neal Shoemaker who I worked on the shoe with from Vans said this was a new "off white" they had been playing with, I said it sounds delicious and looked great.
Earlier in the year you had a shoe collaboration for one of the Pass~Port team, Josh Pall, was the process and approach behind this Vans old skool different ?
Yes quite different really, I guess different companies just work in different ways. Both process were very satisfying in way of limitless materials and details that could be included on the shoe. What I enjoyed about the Vans one especially was working with some really good people on the production side and everyone being on a similar page to create something very "Devine" hehehe…
